I am wanting to set up a news group in outlook express. In other words I want to be able to download news to my computer. Anyone know of some good web sites that give good national as well as international and strange news?
...hmmmm Dragonfire, not at the present moment...just stopping by though to share that as far as personally *smile ...I am in current process of a total Room Re-decor.. Like New wall paint job/Carpet removal/Nu Curtains and the like, Misc. and etc...
...maybe Post #2 would be considered, as you place it, Strange News..
Hi.
Maybe you can try google alerts. It is not exactly what you are looking for but you might like it. You type some key words and when there is something available about the words you type you get an email giving you the link to go and read it.
I don't know the link to google alerts but if you click on news from the google main page the alerts link is in there.
yeah, it might help you to have a google account for this kind of thing as well. it is easy to get one too.
I'm not sure, but I think you may be confused here--and that's easy to do with newsgroups.
Newsgroups are, in themselves, not news, they are a throw back to the old internet. They were a place for people to post messages on all kinds of different topics. You can find discussions on just about everything. You can even find porn and illegal downloads on the newsgroups. The one thing you can't find is news.
Maybe I misunderstood your post and you didn't want newsgroups at all, if so, then I apologize.
Bob
A lot of newspapers can send you news online. My local paper will e-mail headlines, and then you click on the link if you want to read the whole story. I'm sure all the major papers do this and maybe even the one in your home town. Unfortunately, this may not be free. My local paper used to let you access their online version for free, but now they charge a regular subscription for that unless you already subscribe to home delivery service of the hard copy paper, then you can access it online for free.
Thanks bob, here's egg on my face. I would have been surprised if I unknowingly downloaded, shall we say, questionable news. grins. Why do they call it news groups if there's no news? And Buck eye, I will look into that. I was trolling outlook's help files on the subject of news groups and I guess I didn't ever come across what news groups actually are. Chuckels. Here is for learning something new everyday.
